Hellbender 28 is getting a face lift. The crews are working this week Monday through Thursday and will be back next week to do the same. Delays are minor. The road is going to be great!

Hellbender Hits Daytona '08

Hellbender hits Daytona Bike Week again. The week was full of friends from the mountains and new riders telling us this is the year that they'll be up to see us and ride the roads. Even with a half million riders riding and parking on every square inch of beach front, it wasn't hard to find a Deal's Gap or Hellbender t-shirt on someone nearby. Lots of folks were grabbing gear and info on Fontana Village's Spring and Fall Rallies. The Dam Bike Rally at the Dragon kicks off on the first weekend in June and the always popular Smoky Mountain Bike Week will fire up the first weekend in October, just in time for the fall color and some fire in the mountains.

4th of July in the Mountains

July 4th, 2oo7. Happy Independence Day. The Pitstop is partying today and getting ready for Fontana Village's fireworks at 10 pm sharp. Rumor has it that the Village is putting on it's biggest show ever with close to 4000 rounds of 4th of July "Sky Candy." Roads look good and the breeze is keeping the skies clear for some beautiful views at the Hazel Creek Overlook and at Fontana Dam.

Many riders are calling it early today to get cleaned up for some barbecue and beverages at tonight's party and fireworks. Live music tonight includes Knoxville's The Chillbillies headlining in the Fontana Village Resort Recreation Hall. No accident reports today. Everyone's ridin' smart.

Summer's here and it seems everyone is making the trip to motorcycle heaven. The R1/R6 Rally was highlighted by the unveiling of a new show bike created by Shane and the guys at McCoy Motorsports for Yamaha Corporate. The weekend party and bike unveiling can be seen here as seen on the Speed channel.

August brings the return of the women! Stephani McIntyre & Kiri Hunter with their friends at Cobra Powersports will be hosting the 2nd Annual Women's Sportbike Rally 2007 at Fontana Village Resort and the Hellbender again. Stephani reports that this year promises to be the biggest party yet. You can contact her for more information on the rally at the Womens Sportbike Rally website. And guys, don't forget, you must be a guest of one of the female participants.

The Mountains Awaken

The usual suspects are showing up at the Pitstop and on the road. 11April 07 sees the first club of the season invading Fontana Village- welcome back to the Honda S2000 Wake the Dragon Party. 400+ late models taking to the HB, the Dragon and the Skyway this weekend.

The weekend's looking great with plenty of green and color popping out despite the surprise freeze the beginning of the month. Morning fogs have been making some morning streaks well worth getting out of bed earlier.

Back From the Beach!

The Hummer's been down south for Daytona Bike Week with 500,000 of our best friends. Killer party and lots of "We'll see you this spring..." comments. A little warm for us mountain critters and beach rats alike, so the free hellbender tee-shirts and dew rags were appreciated by all.

80 degrees in the Smokies today. Blue skys and double yellow lines. The Hellbender 28 Pitstop is back to it seven days a week and it's reported that the boys at the Deals Gap are open too.

The Dam Bike Rally is booking up for the end of April. The band line-up is looking hot. Corazon Tequila will be throwing the margarita party and the "Jagerettes" will be here in full regalia filling the Jagermiester shot glasses!

Spring's Coming On!

Old man winter seems to be packing it in early for 2007. February has ended with daytime temperatures in the mid-sixties. The first weekend in March is shaping up for some classic early spring runs. Plenty of fuel, food and refreshments waiting at the Hellbender Pitstop. Stop by.

First Good Snow

Overnight for the 1st of February is bringing a good snow. Once the roads are clear for riding by late Friday, the snowcaps in the National Park should make for some incredible riding, albeit a little cool. Bring the leathers and a jacket.

It's a typical Monday here at the Pitstop. So far the weather hasn't stopped the motorcycles from enjoying the roads. No rain as of 1:30 pm.

This Is January?

National Weather Service has backed off earlier predictions of snow and ice on Monday and Tuesday. It looks like some rain and then clearing for a beautiful late week and weekend. So far, January's been running late spring weather.

The Pitstop is open seven days a week again. Thanks to Sue and Team Hellbender for the service. Besides fuel and supplies, it's great having it open just to kick back for eats, drinks and an extra tee.

The roads are clear and the leaves are gone. The lakeside and forest views are incredible. So far, Ol' Mother Nature has been kind, providing daytime temperatures well within the riding comfort zone.

Fontana Village's next bike festival is The Dam Bike Rally. It's running from 05.31.07 through 06.03.07. The events and entertainment they're lining up are going to make this the spring bike event to attend in the Smokies. Check out the Village here and make your reservations early.
